Gutwein Government gets it wrong and throws Housing Minister Jaensch under a bus

Tasmanian Labor

Today the Gutwein Government claimed that their policy to build public housing costs $140,000 to build each home.

But on March 5, Housing Minister Roger Jaensch confirmed the total for each home is $100,000.

This clearly shows this government and the Housing Minister are clueless about public and social housing which is not surprising considering they increased the total housing stock by just five homes last year while Tasmania remains in a housing and homelessness crisis and more and more Tasmanians are becoming homeless on their watch.

Labor's policy has been developed in consultation with community partners who are committed to delivering homes for Tasmanians.
