Habitual consorting charge and PINs at Gold Coast

Officers from Taskforce Maxima, Organised Crime Gangs Group, have made drug and consorting arrests, and issued a total of nine COVID-19 related Penalty Infringement Notices (PINs) following investigations.

During the week, detectives from Taskforce Maxima have undertaken consorting investigations in relation to a group of men, including Mongol OMCG members and associates, attending a private gym at Biggera Waters on Anzac day.

Police will allege photos and video footage of the group meeting were posted on social media.

As a result of the investigation, police executed a search warrant on a residence at Miami locating and seizing a mobile phone, steroids and a quantity of restricted prescription drugs.

A 30-year-old man has been charged with possession of dangerous drugs and possession of restricted drugs and will appear at the Southport Magistrates Court on 22 July. He was also issued a $1,334 fine for failing to comply with a COVID-19 direction issued by the Chief Health Officer (CHO).

A 27-year-old man from Ashmore has been with charged with Habitual Consorting. He was also issued a $1,334 fine for failing to comply with a COVID-19 direction issued by the CHO.

A further four Mongols members and/or associates received PINs for attending the gym and breaching social distancing on Saturday 25 April 2020.

In addition, yesterday morning when detectives attended the Biggera Waters gym they located another group of men and issued three more PINs for failing to comply with the COVID-19 direction issued by the CHO.
