The Centre for Entrepreneurship Education and Development and the Centre for Women in Business help companies led by women, newcomers, rural entrepreneurs flourish

Federal government helps strengthen entrepreneurial ecosystem
Today, the Honourable Lena Metlege Diab, Member of Parliament for Halifax West, announced non-repayable contributions totalling $1,006,223 to the Centre for Entrepreneurship Education & Development (CEED) and the Centre for Women in Business (CWB). The announcement was made on behalf of the Honourable Ginette Petitpas Taylor, Minister of Official Languages and Minister responsible for ACOA.
CEED received $500,000 to support its programming for the fiscal year 2022-2023. This funding has enabled more than 850 startups and 200 existing business in Nova Scotia to access capital, take advantage of social-economic programming, professional development and training, and small business development resources provided by the organization.
CWB received contributions totalling $506,233 for two projects. A $338,473 investment over a two-year period is supporting the Atlantic Canada Mentorship Program, a training program to help Atlantic Canadian women-owned businesses gain a foothold in the national supply chain.
An investment of $167,750 allowed CWB to launch the Growth Incentive Funding Solution, a pilot micro-contribution program for 20 women business owners from different industries. The program provided business owners and founders at the start-up and mid-growth level with one-on-one advisory services and a contribution of $5,000 or $10,000 to grow their business.
Today's announcement further demonstrates the Government of Canada's commitment to boost regional prosperity by supporting inclusive programming for entrepreneurs throughout Atlantic Canada.
