Hallidays Point intersection update

MidCoast Council

It will be full steam ahead for improvement works on The Lakes Way and Blackhead Road intersection at Hallidays Point next week, as teams speed up to beat bad weather.

With the improvement project impacted by flooding last week, and a period of dry weather expected, crews plan to make use of the opportunity to get asphalting work completed as soon as possible. The work will make the road more weather resistant and ensure smoother passage through the intersection.

The asphalting work will take place between Thursday 21 and Tuesday 26 July in daylight hours, weather permitting.

There will be delays of up to 20 minutes expected during the work and we urge motorists to allow extra travel time.

Traffic controllers will be onsite to direct traffic. Please observe any instructions given and drive with extra care.

"We thank the community for their patience as we complete these essential improvement works," said Peter Gesling, Council's Acting Manager Projects and Engineering.

"This is very much the 'some short-term pain for long-term gain' phase of the project.

"As the project progresses, motorists can look forward to a safer and more enjoyable driving experience in the near future."

The project, which includes upgrading the intersection to a three-leg roundabout, aims to improve safety and traffic efficiency.

It is funded by the Federal Government through Transport for NSW.
