MidCoast Council
Three technical studies will guide future growth and development in Hallidays Point.
The community provided feedback on the studies from 24 September until 30 November 2025.
Over 100 people along with three NSW Government agencies provided feedback on the:
- Hallidays Point Biodiversity Study and Local Conservation Plan
- Hallidays Point Traffic Study
- Hallidays Point Strategic Bushfire Study.
At the 10 December 2025 meeting, Councillors determined that these studies would serve as independent reference documents.
The documents are to be considered when determining future planning proposals and development applications.
There was community support for the biodiversity study. Many people recognised the contribution of natural habitats to the character of Hallidays Point.
There was strong community support to develop a Community Bushfire Action Plan. Council is working with the NSW Rural Fire Service to progress this plan.
The next steps for this project include:
- reviewing the MidCoast Urban Release Area Report 2021 to consider the urban release areas based on future infrastructure requirements and means of implementation
- preparing a planning proposal to protect biodiversity through implementing planning controls in the MidCoast Local Environmental Plan, once it is finalised by the NSW Government.
