On Monday, the Hobart City Council will consider the Halls Saddle Visitor Hub Master Plan Options Analysis, an important step in the long-term vision for the Halls Saddle Visitor Hub at a former quarry on the lower slopes of Kunanyi / Mount Wellington.
The Master Plan options for the site highlight what may be possible, offering several solutions on the disused quarry site allowing visitors a way to experience the mountain while respecting its cultural, environmental and landscape values.
This is not a final design, but the beginning of a broader conversation with the community about the site's future.
Positioned between mountain and river, the proposals respond to the deep connection between Kunanyi and Timtumili Minanya / River Derwent.
Any next stage would involve great care and include community and Palawa engagement to help shape a careful, collaborative path forward.
The full officer report can be found on the Hobart City Council meeting agenda on the City of Hobart website.
