HALO to reopen Friday night

HALO Life Below Water will bring the coral reef back to Queens Gardens from Friday night.

Townsville Acting Mayor Mark Molachino said he was looking forward to Castle Hill and Queens Gardens being illuminated again.

"Tropical Cyclone Kimi really forced our hand with closing HALO this week – with the uncertainty of what was happening we had to enact our weather plans for the event," Cr Molachino said.

"With the risk of high wind speeds and heavy rainfall, we had to remove all the structures and installations to ensure we were keeping staff and the community safe, and not damaging any of the equipment.

"What this means is that the reinstallation of the show will take a few days to be completed before we can let people back through the gates."

The gates at Queens Gardens will be open from 6:30pm on Friday night and the show will continue through to Australia Day.
