New performances to go on sale Monday 29th March
The Australian production of HAMILTON officially begins tonight at 7.00pm (AEDT) with a gala red-carpet premiere at the Sydney Lyric Theatre. Business leaders, celebrities, creatives, politicians, and fans from around the nation will gather to celebrate the launch of the show.
HAMILTON’s original US producer Jeffrey Seller – in Sydney for the premiere – said today:
“I am lucky to be in Sydney to witness this beautiful production come alive – the only one currently on stage in the world right now. This Australian cast really moves me – This production has so much life and soul. And there is something truly special about being able to experience this live, together, in the theatre.”
Australian Producer Michael Cassel added:
“From the very first preview performance, audiences have wholeheartedly embraced the show. Huge, heartfelt thanks to everyone involved in bringing to life Lin-Manuel Miranda’s vision, especially through these extraordinary times. Tonight is the culmination of five years determination and I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who has helped make this a reality; especially the creative and production team and our phenomenal cast, crew and musicians who have created this very special theatrical event for Australia. Of course, my huge thanks to the NSW Premier, NSW Government and Destination NSW for their incredible support.”
NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian said:
“It’s so exciting to have the award-winning Hamilton opening in Sydney after years of preparation and anticipation. Sydney is the perfect backdrop for this trailblazing production to return to the stage and the NSW Government is proud to support tourism, major events and creative industries that are so integral to the economic and social fabric of the state.”
NSW Minister for Jobs, Investment, Tourism and Western Sydney Stuart Ayres said:
“The Sydney Lyric Theatre is set and there’s no argument that Sydney is the greatest city in the world right now as the only place you can enjoy the critically-acclaimed production Hamilton live on stage. This is the result of fantastic collaboration between industry and the NSW Government to deliver a world-class show for tens of thousands of NSW residents and visitors, to the benefit of the NSW visitor economy.”
