The refurbished Hampton Pier is now open in Sandringham Harbour.
Offering a safe and accessible experience for everyone, the pier's design combines the charm of the old pier with improved functionality.
The new 24m floating pontoon provides easier access for recreational harbour users and the timber decking reflects the look and feel of the previous pier, which was removed in 2023.
It also features ladders to access tender storage along the pier approach and a safety ladder on the pontoon.
Council advocated to Parks Victoria on the new design and worked with the local community to ensure it would provide positive outcomes for all Sandringham Harbour users.
The new pier design reflects community and stakeholder aspirations collected as part of the Sandringham Harbour Local Port Area Plan, which draws on the site's past as well as community feedback.
Construction started in 2025 and an exclusion zone was in place during construction to ensure community safety.
