Victoria has confirmed its 12-player squad for the upcoming Sheffield Shield clash against Tasmania at Ninja Stadium in Hobart, beginning Wednesday March 5.
The ladder-leading Victorians will be aiming to maintain their strong Shield momentum after clinching a home final with a commanding performance against Western Australia last round.
The match shapes as another high-class contest between two proud cricket states, with Victoria and Tasmania set to compete for the Scott Mason Medal, awarded to the best team man in the Shield fixture between the two sides in Hobart.
The medal honours former Tasmanian opening batsman Scott Mason, who sadly passed away in 2005, and is presented by his father, Winston, at the conclusion of the match.
Victoria welcomes back Marcus Harris following back surgery, adding valuable experience and depth to an already settled batting group.
Will Sutherland, Campbell Kellaway and Sam Harper will look to extend their outstanding form after the trio produced sensational centuries during the recent trip to Perth.
Harper's hot run has propelled him to second on the competition's leading run-scorers list, closely behind Peter Handscomb, who continues to demonstrate his versatility and consistency across all conditions.
Sam Elliott will spearhead an exciting Victorian attack in Hobart. In just five matches this season, the in-form quick has claimed 28 wickets at an extraordinary average of 14.57, underlining his impact with the ball.
Victorian Men's Head Coach Chris Rogers said the group is eager to embrace the challenge of playing in Hobart.
"Hobart is always a tough place to play, and Tasmania consistently brings out the best in us," Rogers said.
"The Scott Mason Medal adds another layer of meaning to this fixture. It's about honouring team-first values and the qualities that make strong dressing rooms.
"We're in a really good place as a group. The boys are playing with confidence, there's strong form across both batting and bowling, and we're excited about the opportunity ahead."
Victoria will face Tasmania in the Sheffield Shield at Ninja Stadium from March 5-8, with play beginning at 10:30am AEDT.
