Have your say on a place name in City of Sydney lga

NSW Geographical Names Board

The Geographical Names Board is seeking community feedback on a proposal by City of Sydney Council to name an urban place in the suburb of Surry Hills as Equality Green.

Chair of the Geographical Names Board Narelle Underwood said feedback is being sought on the proposal to name the central lawn area within Prince Alfred Park.

"It is important that place names reflect the character and history of the local area and community," Mrs Underwood said.

"We want to make sure everyone has an opportunity to provide their feedback on the proposed name."

Equality Green commemorates the public gathering of more than 30,000 people on 15 November 2017 within Prince Alfred Park in support of the Australian (Equality) Marriage Law Proposal.

On this day, the results of the Australian Marriage Law Postal Survey were announced, with more than 60 per cent of Australians voting for marriage equality.

Details of the proposal can also be viewed and submissions lodged on the Geographical Names Board's website.
