Have your say on new homes at 242-244 Beecroft Rd Epping

The Department of Planning, Industry and Environment is calling for community feedback on draft plans to develop the government owned land at 242-244 Beecroft Road, Epping, into a new residential development.

The Concept Development Application for the site, would allow for a residential development that could provide homes within 300 metres walking distance of the Sydney Metro Northwest.

The Department's Executive Director of Key Sites and Industry Assessments, Anthea Sargeant, said community input is a vital part of the planning assessment process and encouraged everyone to have their say on the Environmental Impact Statement for Landcom's proposal.

"The proposal seeks approval for 442 new homes - including 5 per cent affordable housing - across three residential towers with a maximum height of 15 storeys," Ms Sargeant said.

The site had previously been used to support construction of the Metro North West Line and the Sydney Metro Service Facility, which will remain on the site to provide fresh air tunnel ventilation and emergency access while trains are running.

Ms Sargeant said Landcom and Sydney Metro are working together on the long-term planning and development of the government owned land around the new Metro Northwest stations, including this site at Epping.

"The Department's role is to assess Landcom's development application and work towards the best outcome for the community, in consultation with all stakeholders," Ms Sargeant said.

"If approved, the detailed design and construction of the building would be subject to further planning approvals."

After exhibition closes, the Department will consider all community submissions received, along with feedback from other government agencies and councils, as part of the assessment process.

The community is invited to have their say by 4 September 2019.
