Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) is inviting the community to give their feedback on several proposed cycleway options which connect key Newtown residential suburbs to the city centre.
TRC recently secured Queensland Government funding to undertake a cycleways options analysis determining possible active transport routes for the Newtown to City Centre Active Transport project.
Transport and Drainage Planning portfolio spokesperson Councillor Trevor Manteufel said Council was eager for the community to give their feedback, via a Your Say online survey, to help Council understand which of the active transport routes the community favours.
"The Your Say online survey will be open from Monday, 4 August until Monday, 25 August and I would encourage our community to take the time to complete it," Cr Manteufel said.
"Council is committed to delivering and maintaining safe, efficient and easily accessible cycleways, and we would like the community's input to help us accomplish this."
For this first phase of consultation, Council is asking the community to consider a number of active transport route options for a critical east-west connection from Newtown to the City Centre (between Tor Street and West Creek). Feedback is also being sought on alignment options for a north-south corridor, which will connect to the preferred east-west alignment.
"The feedback from this survey will inform phase two of the Newtown to City Centre Active Transport project, which is developing a concept design for the preferred east-west alignment," Cr Manteufel said.
"This project is an exciting development for our Region. It's a chance to support healthy and active lifestyles for our community members."
