Hazard Reduction Burn In Tomaree National Park | 30 April

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS), together with NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) , will be conducting a hazard reduction burn in Tomaree National Park, at Port Stephens on 1 May 2026.

The 7 hectare burn at Shoal Bay will include the eastern edge of Ocean Beach Road and south of Box Beach Road.

The aim of the burn is to improve protection for neighbouring properties and East Shoal Bay by reducing the spread of potential bushfire s within Tomaree National Park.

Public access will be closed including road access to Box Beach and the Tomaree Coastal Walk section between Ocean Beach Road and Verona Road. Diversions are in place.

These will be reopened once they have been assessed as safe.

Motorists are reminded to drive to conditions and are advised to take care if visibility is reduced by smoke and follows any signs.
