Picklebet Penalised For Gambling Self-exclusion Breach

Wagering service provider Puntaa Pty Ltd, trading as Picklebet, has paid a $19,800 penalty for providing wagering services to an individual who registered with BetStop - the National Self-Exclusion Register™.

An Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) investigation found that on 9 February 2026, Picklebet accepted bets from an individual who had registered with BetStop hours earlier.

Under self-exclusion rules, once an individual registers with BetStop, betting companies are not permitted to provide that person with wagering services.

Picklebet closed the individual's account later that day.

New laws commencing on 1 January 2027 will further strengthen BetStop, including by substantially increasing the penalties for breaches of the self-exclusion rules.
