The NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) is planning to conduct a hazard reduction burn in Warrumbungle National Park in central-west NSW, beginning Monday 15 April, weather permitting.
The planned 147-hectare burn will take place in the northern section of the park and will not impact visitor areas, walking tracks or campgrounds.
The low intensity burn will aim to improve food resources for brush-tailed rock wallabies, and to reduce fuel load within the Warrumbungle Feral Predator Free Area.
The burn will take place over 3 to 4 days. Smoke may be visible from neighbouring rural properties during this time.
