HAZMAT incident at Yatala, South Australia

Police are investigating after a HAZMAT incident at Yatala Labour Prison this morning.

Police, MFS and paramedics were called to the prison at Northfield just after 11am on Thursday 3 January after a white substance was found in the mail.

A woman was treated at the scene by paramedics and taken to the Lyell McEwin Hospital. Her condition is not life threatening.

The substance was sent for forensic testing, but is believed to be methamphetamine.

Police are investigating.
