The Hobart City Council Planning Authority Committee has approved a development application for demolition and new building for two multiple dwellings, 13 visitor accommodation units, food services and general retail hire at 55 Hampden Road and 43 South Street, Battery Point, and associated works within the adjacent road reserve.
The proposal involves demolishing the Prince of Wales Hotel and part of 43 South Street to construct a three-storey mixed-use development with two commercial tenancies, 13 visitor accommodation units, two townhouses, basement parking for 37 cars, and associated lot consolidation and landscaping.
22 Anglesea Street, South Hobart
The Hobart City Council Planning Authority Committee has approved a development application for partial demolition, alterations, extension, outbuilding and change to front fence.
The proposal includes demolishing rear structures and additions to allow for a two-storey extension with new living spaces, pergolas, a shed, solar panels, and internal alterations.
136 Wentworth Street, South Hobart
The Hobart City Council Planning Authority Committee has approved a development application for alterations (lighting upgrade) for 136 Wentworth Street, South Hobart.
The proposal includes installing two new 20-metre light poles at Wellesley Oval with LED lighting, matching existing poles, and ensuring lights are off between 11pm and 7am.

Between Hobart City Council Planning Authority Committee meetings, the City's Planning Officers are busy reviewing a range of residential and commercial development applications for Hobart.
Since the last meeting, 28 development applications delegated to council officers were also approved while 47 development applications are currently being advertised.
