Help is also available through Kids Help Phone (1-800-668-6868) and the Hope for Wellness Help Line for Indigenous populations (1-855-242-3310).

Each life lost by suicide sends shockwaves through families, friends and communities. The effects on survivors can be profound, and the emotional impacts can linger for years.

Every person grieves in their own way as they work to come to terms with the absence of a loved one. Supporting mental health and well-being is a priority for the Government of Canada, especially in times of crisis. An online toolkit is available for those who have been impacted by a suicide loss. In these difficult times, grief support services can also offer comfort and guidance.

If you are having trouble coping with negative feelings and stress, you are not alone. Open up to people close to you and seek mental health support. The 9-8-8: Suicide Crisis Helpline is available to call or text anytime, anywhere in Canada, if you or someone you know needs a safe space to discuss thoughts of suicide. Over the past two years since the launch of this service, trained 9-8-8 responders provided compassionate, trauma-informed support to over 660,000 people in Canada, when they needed it the most.

Tomorrow, on International Survivors of Suicide Loss Day, we remember those we've lost to suicide and show our support to their loved ones.
