The Carroll Labor Government is making sure regional Victorians can continue getting access to the care they need.
Minister Stitt today announced recipients of the latest round of Regional Health Infrastructure Fund (RHIF) grants.
43 regional hospitals will share in $150 million in grants for 51 projects.
The funding will deliver better facilities, modern equipment and more capacity to treat patients.
In every corner of the state, Labor is backing the hospitals and health workers regional communities rely on.
This year, recipients include:
- East Grampians Health Service - an expanded Urgent Care Centre will mean more room to treat patients
- Mildura Base Hospital - new diagnostic and surgical equipment
- Alexandra District Health - a new x-ray machine
- Kyabram and District Health Services - surgical and endoscopy equipment replacement
- Buchan Bush Nursing Centre - construct a new purpose-built Bush Nursing Centre on a greenfield site
Labor has now invested $865 million through the RHIF, the largest health grants program in Victoria's history.
Since 2016, the fund has delivered more than 750 projects, supported local jobs and helped regional health services attract and retain skilled workers.
That includes a revamped Urgent Care Centre in Inglewood, upgraded aged care facilities in West Wimmera and new medical equipment in Swan Hill and Central Gippsland.
Labor will always back Victoria's regional hospitals and the dedicated workforce.
Unlike Jess Wilson's Liberal-One Nation Coalition who have a $40 billion cuts plan.
Jess Wilson's mentor Jeff Kennett cut jobs and closed 12 regional hospitals and privatised two.
If given the chance, a Liberal One Nation Coalition will do it again.
As stated by Minister for Health Ingrid Stitt
"We're making sure more regional Victorians can get the care they need, closer to home."
"A Liberal One Nation Coalition will privatise and cut frontline services the first chance they get."
"We know they'll do it because they've done it before - closing 12 regional hospitals and privatising another two."
