Hearing Australia

Hearing Australia has established an emergency hearing help service to support its clients and members of the community in bushfire affected areas across Australia.

The service utilises Hearing Australia's nationwide network of professionals to ensure people with hearing loss have support during the bushfire crisis.

The service is available to anyone needing hearing help and includes:

· An emergency Helpline 1800 826 500 available 8.30am to 5.00pm AEST, seven days a week.

· Access to emergency appointments at the nearest Hearing Australia Centre to see a qualified audiologist.

· Priority support services, including hearing checks, replacement hearing aids and batteries.

· Hearing Australia bus visits to provide hearing healthcare to bushfire impacted areas.

Hearing Australia will work with Australian Government Services, including Centrelink, and local organisations to ensure that people living in bushfire affected areas know how to get urgent help from Hearing Australia if they need it.

"For over 70 years, Hearing Australia has put our clients at the heart of everything we do," says Mr Kim Terrell, Managing Director of Hearing Australia.

"We know this is a devastating time for many people across the nation and we encourage anyone in a bushfire affected area who needs help with their hearing, or the hearing of a family member, to call our emergency helpline."

Hearing Australia operates in over 600 locations across Australia and is the nation's largest provider of government-funded hearing services for children, young adults up to 26, adults with complex communication needs, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, veterans and pensioners.
