Help Develop Your Little One's Speech With Council

Library Speechie Library Talks 2025 Social Tiles2

Do you have a child between zero and five years old? Would you like to help develop their language and literacy skills?

Come along to one of Camden Council's Speechie Library Talks in November! The events will be held on:

• Tuesday 18 November, 10am, at Narellan Library, with speech pathologist Rebecca Smith; and

• Tuesday 25 November, 10am, at Oran Park Library, with speech pathologist Katharine Franklink-Tripodi.

In these sessions, speech pathologists will work with children and families to help build the foundations on which literacy skills develop and help support a healthy transition into literacy. Attendees will enjoy a reading of one of Speech Pathology Australia's Book of the Year 2025 winning books and learn how they can support their child's language and literacy development at home.

Mayor of Camden, Cr Therese Fedeli, said the program was delivered in partnership with Camden Paint the Town REaD and Speech Pathology Australia.

"I believe being a parent or guardian is truly the best job in the world - but it's also one of the hardest things many people will have to deal with," she said. "It's often hard to know how to best support your little one and give them the best foundations possible, which is why we all need help every now and again.

"I would love to really encourage anyone who's thinking about speech and speech pathology for their bub to come along to one of our Speechie sessions and take it all in. You'll be so

much more equipped with knowledge and practical skills to carry on using at home."
