Help For Injured Workers And Businesses

VIC Premier

Labor is delivering better outcomes for injured workers and helping businesses reduce costs.

The Allan Labor Government is freezing the WorkCover average premium for businesses in 2026-27.

Deputy Premier and Minister for WorkSafe and the TAC Ben Carroll today announced the average premium will stay at 1.8 per cent for the fourth year in a row.

This relief for businesses comes as more savings are invested to help injured workers return to work.

Labor committed that once WorkCover returns to financial sustainability, any savings will go back into the scheme - making sure we have better outcomes for workers and lower premiums for businesses.

The Victorian Budget 2026/27 includes a $5.8 million investment from the Labor Government for free training and tailored help for businesses supporting injured workers return to work.

New pilot programs will help the highest-risk workers in the state's public sector, including nurses, teachers and police officers.
