Council is publicly exhibiting the proposed street names for the Glossodia Development, and we want the community to Have Your Say.
The developers of the site within the Glossodia Development have provided the list of proposed street names that are to be exhibited under the requirements of the NSW Roads Act 1993. These names will be used for 30 new public roads to be created as part of the development.
The list of names proposed for the Glossodia Development is based on the following themes relating to:
- Hawkesbury River fish species
- Hawkesbury's honey farms
- The history of the site as a horse stud
- Themes relating to the colour purple, as Glossodia was named after the mauve-coloured waxlip orchid
- The moons of our solar system
- The history of the site as a poultry farm
There is a total of 81 names proposed, and these have been pre-approved for use by the Geographical Names Board of NSW, a process which considers an evaluation of the surrounding Local Government Areas as well as the Hawkesbury Local Government Area for any duplication or similarity with existing road names.
This list of proposed street names also conforms to the guidelines and principles of the New South Wales Address Policy and User Manual.
The community can view the list of proposed street names and provide their feedback online via Your Hawkesbury, Your Say at the link www.yourhawkesbury-yoursay.com.au/road-naming-glossodia. The proposed street names can also be viewed at Council's admin building, Monday to Friday between 9am and 4pm.
