Camden Council is inviting residents, businesses and visitors to help shape the future of Camden after dark, as part of a new night-time economy research and engagement project.
The project aims to build a better understanding of how the Camden area's evening and night-time economy currently operates and identify opportunities to enhance vibrancy, safety and accessibility across the region. Taking a holistic approach, the project aims to capture the full picture of life after dark in Camden, including the role of essential services, shift workers, and a wide range of businesses in the night-time economy.
The first stage of the project focused on research and stakeholder engagement, including analysis of economic and social data, consultation with local businesses and industry representatives, a review of relevant legislation and policy and benchmarking against other local government areas with established night-time economies.
Council is now seeking feedback from the broader community to better understand local experiences, priorities and ideas for the future of Camden after dark. Community feedback, together with the research and business insights gathered to date, will help inform future planning and support the development of Council's next Economic Development Strategy.
Mayor of Camden, Cr Therese Fedeli, said the initiative was an important step in planning for the area's continued growth.
"A strong night-time economy supports local businesses, creates jobs, encourages investment and contributes to a vibrant, connected and economically resilient community," she said.
"As the Camden local government area continues to grow, so too does the need for diverse, safe and engaging experiences after hours. We want to hear from residents, businesses and visitors about what they value, what's working well and where there are opportunities to improve our night-time offering."

Community members can have their say online or by attending one of several pop-up consultation sessions that will be held across the Camden area. The sessions will provide an opportunity to speak directly with Council staff and share ideas on how Camden's night-time economy can continue to grow and evolve. Pop-up sessions include:
- Thursday 27 August, 12-7pm, at Oran Park Podium, 351 Oran Park Drive;
- Saturday 5 September, 10am-2pm, at John Street, Camden during the Unlock Camden event;
- Wednesday 9 September, 10am-2pm, at Camden Civic Centre, during the Kids Fun Day event;
- Thursday 10 September, 12-7pm, at Narellan Town Centre, 326 Camden Valley Way, Narellan; and ;
- Saturday 12 September, 9am-12pm, at Alan Baker Art Gallery, 37 John Street, Camden NSW, during the Mini Art Market event.
