Help shape future of Latrobe Street Saleyards Precinct

The next phase of community consultation on the Latrobe Street Saleyards Precinct Urban Renewal Project is now underway.

Following the first phase of consultation in late 2018, the City of Ballarat commenced further investigation to better understand the challenges and opportunities for future development of the Latrobe Street Saleyards Urban Renewal Precinct.

This research, and community feedback from the first phase of consultation, has been captured in a Background Analysis Paper which is now available to view online at: mysay.ballarat.vic.gov.au/latrobe-saleyards

The previous round of consultation focussed on understanding the community's vision for the Latrobe Saleyards precinct, with the survey showing the 74 contributors were in favour of:

  • Renewing the entire precinct
  • General road upgrades, including traffic and other streetscape renewals
  • An extension to Gillies Street through the saleyards site to Latrobe Street
  • General improvements and upgrades to Latrobe Street
  • Redevelopment or new facilities to be provided on the saleyards site

During this second phase of consultation, community members are being asked to provide feedback on the Background Analysis Paper.

Feedback on the Background Analysis Paper, along with targeted discussions with the community, will be used to prepare a Framework Plan which will guide Council's position on the strategic direction of land use planning decisions within the precinct.

Community members interested in understanding more about this project are welcome to attend an upcoming information session.
