Help sought after man suffers eye injury when assaulted - Pyrmont

Police are appealing for information from the public as they investigate the assault of a man in Pyrmont at the weekend.

Emergency services were called to the intersection of Union Street and Pyrmont Bridge Road shortly after 1.30am Sunday (19 June 2022), and found a man with serious facial injuries.

Officers from Sydney City Police Area Command were told the 29-year-old man was standing on the corner with a friend when they got involved in an argument with a group of men.

Police were told the man was punched in the head from behind, falling face-first onto a gutter. He was knocked unconscious and suffered serious injuries to his left eye.

The Randwick man was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before he was taken to St Vincent's Hospital, where he was treated for injuries to his left eye and nose before being released the following morning.

Police have released images of two men they believe can assist with inquiries into this incident.

The first man is described as being of Pacific Islander/Maori appearance, aged in his early 20s, with a 'mullet' haircut. At the time he was wearing a black shirt with 'Givenchy' written on a white stripe.

The second man is also described as being of Pacific Islander/Maori appearance, aged in his early 20s, but with a 'man-bun' hairstyle. At the time he was wearing a black 'Hoodrich' shirt, blue jeans and white shoes.
