Enabling legislation for the Australian Government's Help to Buy program, similar to the Tasmanian Government's MyHome program, has passed the House of Assembly.
Minister for Housing and Planning, Kerry Vincent, said this was a positive step for Tasmania.
"I am pleased to see this legislation pass the House of Assembly," Minister Vincent said.
"Our Government is delivering more homes sooner.
"Help to Buy will complement our highly successful MyHome Shared Equity Program, which has already helped over 1,000 households.
"I want to again thank the constructive approach from my Federal colleagues for helping us get to this point.
"This Liberal Government is delivering more housing options for more Tasmanians.
"I look forward to the Bill progressing through the Legislative Council."
