The Tasmanian Liberal Government's plan to deliver Local Jobs for Local People will be boosted through the launch of the $6.5 million Tasmanian Employer Bonus Fund which supports eligible employers take on a job-seeker and delivers on our First 100 Days election commitment.
We recognise the cost of employing new staff can be a challenge to many businesses, which is why the Fund will provide up to $6,500 over six months to help eligible employers meet the costs and remove additional barriers.
The new jobs must be for a minimum of 3 months on a casual, part-time, fixed-term or permanent basis and provide employees with at least 15 hours.
Eligible Tasmanians include people who have been registered with Centrelink as unemployed for at least six months, are registered with a Disability Employment Service provider or the NDIS, parents or carers returning to work after six months or more out of the workforce, and people aged over 45 years returning to work after six months or more out of the workforce.
Importantly, the Tasmanian Employment Bonus Fund is helping more Tasmanians secure sustainable pathways to work and meaningful employment which will boost our economy and help secure Tasmania's future.
The Fund joins a suite of other initiatives under the Liberal Government's Local Jobs for Local People including $10.6 million to establish four new jobs hubs in regional communities around Tasmania, $1.5 million for the Jobs Tasmania Partnership fund between the State Government and the Non-Government Sector to better alignment Government and the non-Government sectors and $2 million for the Job Ready Fund to help young people access the tools they need to be job ready.
