Western Australians are encouraged to head to the Treasury website to check if they have unclaimed money owed to them from Western Australian-based organisations.
The Department of Treasury receives unclaimed monies from WA-based organisations that have been unsuccessful in returning funds to the rightful owners.
The WA Register of Unclaimed Money has recently been updated with 166,000 new records, adding around $24 million in unclaimed money owed.
The recent update includes large individual unclaimed amounts of $803,626 and $365,899.
The full Register now contains over 942,000 unclaimed amounts, totalling around $138 million.
Treasury holds unclaimed monies of any value for an indefinite period of time and does not charge any fees to return the money.
To help reunite people with their money, Treasury provides an online portal for people to search the register and for submitting a claim, with funds payable directly into a nominated bank account.

As stated by Premier and Treasurer Mark McGowan:
"I encourage everyone to check the WA Register of Unclaimed Money to see if they are entitled to any of the funds.
"The unclaimed monies typically relate to rental bond refunds, dividend payments, vehicle licence refunds, overpayments of utility bills and refunds from education providers."
