The latest Patient Experience Report has some of the highest levels of patient satisfaction, with 91.2 per cent of patients rating the quality of care they received as good or very good.
This result represents the highest level of patient reported satisfaction in the past five years, marking a significant milestone in the delivery of care and services.
The report highlights strong performance across key aspects of the patient journey, reflecting the dedication, professionalism and compassion of staff in providing high-quality, patient-centred care.
The Patient Experience Report draws on direct feedback from patients, capturing their experiences and perceptions of care. Insights from the report will continue to inform service planning, quality improvement initiatives and patient-focused reforms.
Between 1 July 2024 and 30 June 2025, 16,650 South Australians responded to a survey about their hospital experience, which showed all 10 categories exceeded the 85 per cent benchmark.
This is the largest response to the survey in the past five years, predominantly due to the survey going digital. Usually, the survey would receive about 4000 respondents.
Some of the major findings from the report include:
- 91.2 per cent felt the quality of care received was good or very good.
- 91.9 per cent felt confident in the safety of their treatment.
- 90.2 per cent felt their views and concerns were listened to always or mostly.
- 90.7 per cent felt their individual needs were met almost or most of the time.
- 88.8 per cent felt involved in decision-making.
- 87.5 per cent felt they were kept informed as much as they wanted about their care and treatment.
This year's percentage of respondents who felt their quality of care was good or very good is the highest it has been since 2020 – when it was rated at almost 90 per cent.
This feedback helps identify where services are meeting their goals and where improvements are needed, providing assurance and supporting the ongoing delivery of safer, high-quality care and better health outcomes for all South Australians.

As put by Blair Boyer
We want every South Australian to have the best experience possible when they engage with our health services.
Achieving our highest patient satisfaction result in five years is a powerful endorsement of the care our teams provide every day. It shows that patients feel supported, respected and confident in the care they receive.
Listening to patients is essential. Their feedback helps us understand what we are doing well and where we need to continue improving to ensure care is safe, high-quality and responsive to community needs.
However, there's always room for improvement, and the responses collated will be used to enhance safety and quality to ensure we continue to deliver positive experiences and health outcomes.
As put by Department of Health and Wellbeing Chief Executive, Dr Robyn Lawrence
Ensuring patients have the best possible experience is a strong focus across our health services and system.
It's critical we listen to patient feedback to ensure we are meeting their expectations and delivering ongoing improvements.
We received an overwhelming response to the latest survey, which showed staff are delivering a high standard of care across South Australia.
I would like to thank everyone who took the time to complete the survey.
