Hiroshima Univ. Launches Global Doctoral Fellowship

Hiroshima University will launch a new program, the Hiroshima University Global Doctoral Fellowship, starting in FY2026. This initiative aims to create an environment where international students entering the doctoral program can focus on their research with peace of mind. Through this program, we will offer financial support to a total of 30 international doctoral students. Our goal is to support and nurture these students so that they can contribute to Japan's future in science, technology, and innovation, and become global leaders who will shape the future of the world.

This program seeks students who possess a broad perspective, extensive knowledge, sound judgment, and strong ability to take action, and who can contribute to the future of science, technology, and innovation in Japan, while promoting initiatives to make the world a better place. In particular, we welcome applicants who intend to remain actively involved in Japan's science and technology innovation even after earning their doctoral degree at Hiroshima University. This intention will be an important consideration in the selection process.

Selected students, will be employed as Researcher and will receive both a salary and research funding as part of the support provided through this program.

Selected students will be required to participate in activities such as study abroad programs, transferable skills training, and career development programs provided through the Program for Developing and Supporting the Next-Generation of Innovative Researchers at Hiroshima University.*
