Hit and run in Kingston, QLD

Police are appealing for witnesses after a motorbike travelled through a red light and struck a young boy on a pedestrian crossing before leaving the scene in Kingston this afternoon, Queensland Police say.

Preliminary information suggests the 5-year-old boy and a 31-year-old woman were crossing Juers Street near Attunga Street when the motorbike travelled around a car stationary at the red light and collided with the boy.

The motorbike then continued to drive away westbound on Juers Street.

The boy sustained a minor head injury as well as fractures to his leg and ankle as a result of the collision.

He was transported to Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital in a stable condition.

The motorbike is described as possibly red in colour.

Police are urging for anyone who may have dashcam footage of the area at the time of the incident or further information about the motorbike to come forward.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
