Hit and run traffic crash at Diddillibah, QLD

Police have charged a man following a hit and run traffic crash at Diddillibah last night, Queensland Police say.

Initial investigations suggest around 8.00pm, a moped was travelling on David Low Way when it was struck by a Mazda utility.

It will be alleged that the ute then left the scene at speed along Petrie Creek Road.

Police located the alleged driver of the ute in Petrie Creek a short time later where he was arrested.

A 21-year-old Bli Bli man has been charged with one count each of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing grievous bodily harm whilst adversely affected by an intoxicating substance, drive under the influence of liquor and fail to remain at incident and assist injured persons showing callous disregard.

He is due to appear in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on June 5.

The moped rider, a 26-year-old Toowoomba man was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident, has dash cam footage or who may able to assist with the investigation is asked to contact Crime Stoppers.
