About the Study: Are any HLA alleles associated with lamotrigine-induced drug reaction with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms (DRESS) in a US population? In this matched case-control study of 29 case and 290 control participants, HLA-A*32:01 was strongly associated with lamotrigine-induced DRESS. These findings suggest that HLA-A*32:01 screening may help identify patients at risk for lamotrigine-induced DRESS, but it is absent from current commercial pharmacogenomic panels for preventing severe cutaneous adverse reactions.
