Hobart Airport emergency management exercise

Police assure the community that if they see an increased emergency services presence at Hobart Airport today, it's planned training and there is no need for concern.

Inspector Jon Cooper said the planned training exercise is a Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) requirement to test the Airport Emergency Plan.

"Between 9am and 3.30pm today, there will be an increased emergency services presence at the Hobart Airport, with emergency responders and volunteers participating in planned emergency response training."

"I assure anyone who sees a heightened level of emergency services at the Hobart Airport today that there is no need for concern – we are undertaking planned training for emergency services to practice and refine their response in a lifelike and safe environment."

The training exercise will not disrupt regular scheduled passenger flights.

"On behalf of everyone involved, we thank the public and any travellers for their cooperation and understanding while we conduct this necessary training exercise today," said Inspector Jon Cooper.
