The waterslide, tipping bucket, leisure pool and 25 metre recreational pool at the Doone Kennedy Hobart Aquatic Centre will be out of action for three days next week to allow for critical repairs to be carried out on a major inlet pipe.
The warm water pools and water fun facilities will be closed from Monday 5 February, and are scheduled to re-open on Thursday 8 February.
The 50 metre lap pool will be temporarily divided into two 25 metre lap pools, with a designated play area for competent swimmers.
The repairs have been timed to be completed before the start of this year's Learn to Swim lessons, which start on Tuesday 13 February, and after the popular School Holiday Splash activities.
The aquatic centre's 25 metre pool is used for aquatic exercises such as water walking, water aerobics classes and water therapy as well as by beginner lap swimmers.
The leisure pool is a huge hit with families who love the Splash and Play zone, and which is home to Hobart's much-loved "tipping bucket", a giant water slide and other water features that create a safe and welcoming environment for young swimmers.
The City of Hobart appreciates the importance of the pool to the Hobart community as a venue for swimming, water sports, therapy and fun.
As well as being the home of Tasmania's only competition standard dive pool, a leisure pool, a 25 metre pool and a 50 metre pool, the aquatic centre also gives members access to a spa, sauna and steam room as well as personal training and gym facilities.
Combined, the two warm water pools hold 760 000 litres of water.
