Police issued 23 traffic infringements in a two-hour blitz in the Hobart CBD this morning.
One driver was fined after failing to stop for a red light, 21 people were caught using their mobile phones while driving and one person was issued an infringement for inattentive driving.
The blitz involved officers in uniform and plain clothes, either on foot or in traffic in a range of vehicles.
Drivers are reminded that using a mobile phone while stationary at traffic lights is an offence that attracts a $346 fine and three demerit points.
In addition, it is an offence for Learner or P1 provisional licence holders to use a mobile phone, even when connected to headphones, Bluetooth or speakerphone.
