Hodgman and Rockliff must come clean on education cuts

Tasmanian Labor
  • More than $9M cut from education
  • Schools, teachers, students will pay the price
  • Hodgman and Rockliff must tell Tasmanians exactly where cuts are coming from
  • The Liberals have finally revealed that almost $9.3 million will be cut from the Department of Education this year, with more to come from Will Hodgman's savage $450 million slash and burn agenda.

Shadow Minister for Education and Early Years, Josh Willie, said Tasmanian students, teachers, principals and school attendants should not have to pay for the Liberal's financial mismanagement.

"We know that Will Hodgman and Jeremy Rockliff are cutting the equivalent of 116 teachers out of Tasmania's education system," Mr Willie said.

"Jeremy Rockliff was front and centre on the Razor Gang and cuts to the Department of Education will reduce support for Tasmanian schools.

"The Liberals owe Tasmanians the truth - will schools be impacted by their cuts?

"After sustained pressure from the community and Labor, Jeremy Rockliff back-flipped on teaching cuts to the eSchool.

"We call on all Tasmanians to stand with Labor and tell the Liberals that we won't stand for cuts to education.

"Tasmanian students don't deserve to pay the price for Will Hodgman and Peter Gutwein's financial incompetence."
