Hodgman's Royal bungle

Tasmanian Labor
  • Royal redevelopment misses another milestone
  • Health system hits emergency levels
  • Liberals plans in disarray
  • The redevelopment of the Royal Hobart Hospital has missed yet another deadline thanks to the mismanagement of Will Hodgman, Sarah Courtney and the failed former Health Minister Michael Ferguson.

The redevelopment was due for practical completion in mid-2019.

Michael Ferguson then said that it would be complete by the end of September.

Practical completion was then forecast by the end of October.

Even after Labor asked about the redevelopment earlier this month, Will Hodgman still failed today to say when it will be ready.

Shadow Health Minister Sarah Lovell said as our health system is getting even worse and people are dying needlessly in our hospitals, Tasmanians deserve to know just what is going on.

"Will Hodgman, Sarah Courtney and Michael Ferguson have failed to answer questions why they haven't met their first three deadlines for practical completion," Ms Lovell said.

"Tasmania's health system is at emergency levels but as the Liberals miss deadline after deadline after deadline, its Tasmanians who are the ones suffering.

"In Question Time today Will Hodgman still had no idea when the construction might actually be finished.

"This is a complete embarrassment, and Tasmanians who are sick and their families deserve much better."
