Today, Canada's Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Tim Hodgson, met with India's Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, in New Delhi. Their discussions focused on the great opportunities that exist to expand trade and investment.
Minister Hodgson highlighted that Canada has the potential to be a reliable, long-term supplier of critical minerals and liquefied natural gas, and the strengths of Canada's wood sector, which offers India's growing construction and furniture industries sustainable, high-quality and design-versatile products. He reaffirmed Canada's commitment to diversifying trade and to strengthening resilient, mutually beneficial supply chains with India.
The two ministers explored new opportunities to foster innovation and agreed on the importance of mobilizing private-public capital to advance joint investments.
