A man has chased down and restrained a teenager after his home was broken into in Hawthorn this morning.
Police have been told the resident heard a noise inside his Kinkora Road home before went to investigate about 3.25am.
As the homeowner made his way through the residence, he appears to have disturbed two offenders skulking around the ground floor.
He confronted the pair who ran from the scene.
The resident, who is aged in his 40s, took off after the pair and caught up to one of the boys down the street. He restrained the teen until police arrived.
Camberwell van members took the 15-year-old into custody.
Members from Box Hill were also quick to respond and arrested the other youth involved, a 14-year-old boy.
Detectives are investigating whether the boys were also involved in an aggravated burglary in Elphin Grove just prior to the incident.
The teenagers, from the Boroondara and Whittlesea areas, will now be interviewed in relation to the incident.
