Homestead ARB Eyed for Future F-35A Basing

The Department of the Air Force approved Homestead Air Reserve Base, Florida, as the candidate location in the most recent round of Air Force Reserve Command F-35A basing decisions.

The Air Force will follow the strategic basing process to evaluate the recapitalization of 24 F-16 Fighting Falcons at Homestead with 24 F-35A Lightning IIs.

Pending a final basing decision, and the outcome of an environmental impact analysis, initial operational capability is planned for fall 2034, with full operational capability in 2035.
