Homicide investigation at Chillie Beach, QLD

Detectives investigating the suspicious death of a man at Chillie Beach last year have charged a man with manslaughter today, Queensland Police say.

Around 1pm on July 19, 2016, police were called to Chillie Beach following the death of a 46-year-old man.

It will be alleged between midnight and 2am, the victim and a 48-year-old man, were involved in a verbal altercation which turned physical.

Police will further allege the victim sustained life threatening injuries as a result of the altercation and passed away at the scene.

Detectives from the Weipa Criminal Investigation Branch today charged a 48-year-old Camira man with one count of manslaughter.

He has been given police bail and is expected to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on September 4.
