Homicide investigation, Robina

Detectives have commenced a homicide investigation following an incident outside a Robina tavern last night, August 17.

At about 10.15pm police were called to Markeri Street in response to reports of a Nerang man allegedly wounded following an altercation with another man there.

Emergency services transported the injured 26-year-old Nerang man to the Gold Coast University Hospital where he died at around 11pm.

The second man allegedly fled the scene prior to police arrival and investigations led police to a Mermaid Beach address where they took a 26-year-old man into custody shortly after 2am.

A crime scene has been declared and the 26-year-old man is assisting police with their inquiries.

Investigators would like to speak to any witnesses and anyone with relevant footage.
