The Canadian Institutes of Health Research's (CIHR) Barer-Flood Prize for Health Services and Policy Research is a career achievement award that honours an exceptional scientist who has made meaningful contributions to research into improving how health care services are organized and delivered.

CIHR is pleased to announce that Dr. Jeremy Grimshaw is the recipient of the 2018 Barer-Flood Prize. The award, presented in a ceremony yesterday evening, recognizes Dr. Grimshaw's outstanding career dedicated to promoting the use of robust research findings in day-to-day clinical practice.

A Full Professor at the University of Ottawa, Senior Scientist at the Ottawa Hospital, and a Tier 1 Canada Research Chair in Health Knowledge Transfer and Uptake, Dr. Grimshaw's groundbreaking research is internationally recognized as being a key component in bridging the gap between what health research tells us and how health care professionals care for patients in the real world.

Named in honour of Dr. Morris Barer and Dr. Colleen Flood, past Scientific Directors of the CIHR Institute of Health Services and Policy Research (CIHR-IHSPR), recipients of this prestigious prize have had a substantial and enduring impact on health services and policy research, policy, or care delivery.

"On behalf of the Government of Canada, I would like to warmly congratulate Dr. Grimshaw on receiving this well-deserved honour. Over a career that has spanned 25 years, Dr. Grimshaw has been a catalyst for forging highly effective health services research and knowledge translation partnerships. In the process, he has inspired legions of young researchers who, I am certain, will continue his legacy of excellence."
