Hooning Charges At Gladstone

Gladstone officers have charged a 15-year-old boy following investigations into a number of dangerous driving and hooning offences in the Gladstone area this month.

Around 1.30pm, it will be alleged a white Ford Falcon was observed doing a burnout along Dalrymple Drive on Wednesday, 15 October.

Police will also allege between Tuesday, 14 October and Saturday, 18 October, the vehicle was observed driving dangerously a number of times around Gladstone.

The 15-year-old boy from Kirkwood was charged with one count each of dangerous operation of a vehicle with prior conviction, wilfully causing motor vehicle to lose traction with road, and unlicensed driving.

He has been remanded in custody and due to reappear before Gladstone Childrens Court on 5 November.

Officer in charge of Gladstone Police Station, Senior Sergeant Glen Fletcher, said those who choose to engage in dangerous driving will face the consequences.

"Gladstone officers won't tolerate high-risk activities on our roads in our community," said Senior Sergeant Fletcher.

"Intentionally driving in a dangerous manner puts your life, and the lives of other road users at risk."

"We want everyone to get to their destinations safely, and we encourage anyone who witnesses any type of dangerous driving to report the matter immediately."

The Queensland Police Service is committed to reducing the number of lives lost on our roads.

Data shows that serious crashes can be significantly reduced when drivers recognise and avoid the 'Fatal Five' behaviours: speeding, drink and drug driving, not wearing seatbelts, fatigue and distraction.
