Horse and vehicle collision at Windsor

An investigation is underway after a horse and car collided in the Hawkesbury area this afternoon.

Shortly before 1pm, a collision has occurred between a woman riding a horse and vehicle on Macquarie Street near Christie Street, Windsor.

Officers from Hawkesbury Police Area Command are on scene and conducting inquiries.

The 35-year-old woman has been taken by NSW Ambulance paramedics to hospital in a serious condition.

The horse was examined by a local vet but did not appear to by injured.

The 59-year-old male driver has been taken to hospital for mandatory testing.

Traffic is affected in both directions and motorists are urged to avoid the area or allow extra time.
