Human Rights lawyer to speak at Human Rights Oration

The Mornington Peninsula Human Rights Group is hosting the 2020 Human Rights Oration next month with lawyer Lee Carnie as the special guest speaker.

Lee is a human rights lawyer and social justice advocate. Lee currently works as the Strategic Advocacy and Policy Manager in Civil Justice at Victoria Legal Aid, working on a range of issues including mental health, disability, economic inequality, anti-discrimination and migration.

Lee previously worked as the Director of Legal Advocacy at Equality Australia, Australia's first national LGBTIQ+ legal advocacy and campaigning NGO, and as a Senior Lawyer at the Human Rights Law Centre, with a focus on building the national campaign for an Australian Charter of Human Rights.

The community is invited to hear Lee's personal experiences as a frontline human rights lawyer and analysis of pressing systemic issues we face as a society.

The event is free for the community to attend and is supported by the Mornington Peninsula Shire.
