Hume City Council has again delivered more than $100 million worth of capital works during the 2024/25 financial year, transforming neighborhoods and delivering key infrastructure projects.
In a time of rapid growth, this investment is helping meet the needs of Hume's diverse and expanding community.
The works have delivered brand-new parks and playgrounds, upgraded local roads and shared paths, modernised sporting facilities and built vibrant community centres.
Delivery of this vital infrastructure allows the community to thrive, giving families more places to relax and play close to home.
Upgraded community centres bring key services and programs under one roof — supporting lifelong learning, maternal and child health services, and wellbeing programs.
Improved roads, car parks and drainage infrastructure are making everyday journeys safer, smoother and more accessible.
Key projects completed over the year included:
Sunbury Multideck Car Park
Craigieburn Sports Stadium
Greenvale Indoor Cricket Centre
Highlander Community Centre
Eric Boardman Reserve Outdoor Netball Court Upgrade
Greenvale Recreation Reserve Oval and Car Park Upgrade
Kinder expansion projects in Roxburgh Park and Craigieburn
Leo Dineen Reserve Pavilion
Approximately $2 million was invested in open space improvements, including upgrades to parks, playgrounds and shared pathways across the municipality, enhancing neighbourhood liveability and encouraging active, healthy lifestyles.
In addition, more than $18 million was delivered in essential civil infrastructure works, including road reconstructions, pedestrian safety upgrades, stormwater improvements and the resurfacing of roads and car parks, helping to keep the city safe, accessible, and well-connected.
Delivery of this program reflects Council's strong focus on planning for sustainable growth and providing inclusive, accessible spaces for people of all ages and abilities.
From major precinct upgrades to local neighbourhood improvements, these projects are helping to build a more active and connected city.
Hume City Council also acknowledges and thanks the Victorian and Australian Governments for their valuable contributions to several of these projects, demonstrating the strength of collaboration across all levels of government to deliver vital infrastructure for the community.
Quotes attributable to Hume City Mayor, Cr Jarrod Bell:
"This has been one of the biggest years of infrastructure delivery in Hume's history, and every dollar has gone into making our community stronger, safer and better connected.
We're not just building roads or buildings. We're building opportunities for families, spaces for connections, and a city that supports everyone to thrive.
This is what a Council that delivers looks like. We're backing our community with real investment and real action for Hume's long-term future development, and we are already full steam ahead with our 2025/26 projects."
